About our Gym
We were originally located at Inner Athlete Fitness Studio in Mill Creek, WA. I started working there as a personal trainer and I quickly fell in love with its strong community. The gym closed in 2020 and I initiated fundraising efforts to assist in our equipment purchase and relocation. There is potential for a reopening, but in the meantime I am continuing to provide online workouts and nutrition consultations to these amazing loyal members.
About Me
My name is Shaylen Sharp, and I am an ACSM certified personal trainer. I received my B.S. in Kinesiology with specialties in sports science & strength and conditioning, as well as sports nutrition. There is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to fitness, and I am committed to finding what will work best for you and to be by your side through the adversities that you will face along your fitness journey. Instruction, support, and accountability are what I can provide to you, and I would love to see you reach your health and fitness goals!
Words from Members of this Fitness Community
“I never knew how important it was to be a part of a small gym family until our gym closed in February. We all knew each others names, and cheered each other on, and encouraged each other. I hope we can get our fitness family back together again soon.”

“December of 2016 my wife wanted to get back into working out after our many surgeries and health setbacks. She asked me if I wanted to go to a consultation visit at Inner Athlete. That day we both signed up for a year membership and that day changed our lives. The 1st day I have to be honest I felt like I was going to die. The trainers do a wonderful job working with you and your abilities though. Brett [another IA member] and my trainer challenged me to do the Spartan race in April. I have to be honest I was scared. My Inner Athlete family stuck with me during the race and I FINISHED AROO! Could not have done this without my Inner Athlete family’s support. You will read many reviews about the community at IA. I have to say it is a diverse group and I love all the members like family. It is truly a FAMILY and everyone wants to see everyone succeed! I'm now into year 3 at IA, It is my 2nd home, 2nd family. I love that I can be pushed and workout with my piers and also my best friend my wife Nicole. Nicole, thank you for introducing me to IA. IA and Nicole thank you for making me a better me!”

“About eight years ago I was diagnosed with Celiac disease and two other autoimmune disorders that make it hard to lose weight and feel good. When I found Inner Athlete I was hesitant, but they turned my life around; they saved me. It was very hard when they closed their doors and very emotional for me. I found that the gym was my family. We were so close; we laughed together, we cried together, and we made goals together. When they closed their doors it broke my heart. I can’t just find another gym; I need my Inner Athlete family. I’ve looked for other memberships but they don’t offer what Inner Athlete did. I think that Shay is an amazing trainer and she’s inspirational. You can’t just find that anywhere.”

“This gym was really a huge part of me becoming active again. The people I met there were really what kept me coming back. It feels like a true family and way more than just a gym.”

“I started going to Inner Athlete about a year ago. I was going there with the goal to eventually test for law enforcement and I didn’t have the motivation to go to an open gym and workout on my own. I walk in for my first class and immediately people are greeting me; I felt welcome. The members there quickly became friends and family. When I show up there we’re always pushing each other to be better versions of ourselves. You can’t just go anywhere and find people like that. I didn’t do a whole lot of running before my testing, but I did cardio classes with Shay and I was almost crawling out of that gym. It was a wake up call for me. Everyone there pushed me and I kept going and I happily passed my testing because of the work I was doing at Inner Athlete. At first I was going to the gym just to help me pass my test, but I kept going after I passed because now the gym is actually a fun place to go to. Everyone is rooting for you there. The trainers actually care a whole lot about you. I feel like trainers at other gyms are just trying to collect a paycheck, but these people actually care about whether or not you’re making progress and accomplishing your goals. This is why I can’t just pick up and go to a different gym. I hope we can somehow keep this thing running because I’m really counting on it.”
